A definite meteoric rise for Qi Lu, seems like it was only yesterday he went to Baidu now he’s in charge of CY, could we be witnessing the rise of another Musk from the Middle Kingdom? One things for sure M$’s loss China’s gain. Some times when I see how his career has progressed you have to wonder was it a Bike accident or Career move, no I am not espousing rampant conspiracy theories, but one things for sure its sure to be interesting with way over a Billion captive market that many firms and start ups find it hard to break in to with innovation, would give a chance to emerging start ups to flourish without the hand of Profit over Product limiting what potentially could be a promising new field. Apparently he’s a avid supporter of “Block Chain” which I have mixed feelings about with the advent of Quantum Computing just around the corner the ability of its complexity for security could well be negated. But hey he’s the Tech guy so presumably he’s crunched the numbers and permutations of the future that’s why he’s getting the big Bucks or in this case the Big Yuan Its definitely watch this space I think 😉

What does this say about Microsoft, the company that Qi Lu had an executive position at?

From Altman, YC China + Qi Lu:

We believe that technology drives innovation, that startups can do very ambitious things if they think on a long enough time horizon, and that hackers can change the world.

      and

YC has been very successful in the world by believing that hackers – not businesspeople – can build the biggest companies. We are confident that with Qi at the helm, YC China will do the same.

With Qi Lu providing leadership that is touted as promoting a business model of hacking, YC China seeks to do the same as Microsoft, or were there things that Qi Lu wasn’t able to push Microsoft to do? How many people have felt that Microsoft’s updating is more like malware, hacking into our personal operating systems?

Hmm… malware and hacking as a business model…?
