All I want to do is insert 1 address into a letter I am writing. I use WordPerfect most of the time and it’s a no-brainer, select Tools|Address Book and Outlook pops and select the person/company I want and it is inserted.

Word obviously works differently. I can’t even get Word to recognize Outlook for my contacts.

What am I missing? I’m using a Letterhead I created. Not a template.

    Thank you.

You can place the Address Book button on the Quick Access Toolbar:
      – Right-click the QAT.
      – Select Customize…
      – Select commands from Commands not on the ribbon.
      – Find and select Address Book in the list of commands.
      – Click Add, then click OK.

You can use the Address Book button to insert a single address from your Outlook contacts.

The Address Book button is also available in the Letter Wizard and in the Envelopes and Labels Wizard.

Hans, that works beautifully! I knew I had to be missing something easy.

However, when the address is inserted it is formatted with double spacing rather than single. Any thoughts on how to cope with that?

In my Word 2002, the inserted address uses single spacing. Perhaps you’re using a specific style?

Info about the layout of the address can be found here: Inserting Outlook Addresses into Microsoft Word Documents. It’s not specific to Word 2007, but I assume it still applies there.

I was using a blank document rather than my letterhead when I tried the insert. Using the letterhead it works fine. Inserts the country which I’d prefer not to have. I’ll check out that link.

            THANK YOU!!!

You can go to Tools|Letters and Mailings|Letter Wizard|Recipient Info and then click on the address book. You can create a macro that leads directly to the Recipient Info page and place a button on your Toolbar for quick access.
