    When I try to publish to the web with Front Page, I receive the following:

    “The server sent a response which Front Page could not parse. If you are trying to connect to a Front Page server, check with the server’s administrator to make sure the Front Page server extensions are installed properly.”

    When checking with the administrator, he confirms that the extensions are properly installed.
    He was able to publish to the site from his computer.
    I believe that the web site is using Front Page 2000.

    Is there some setting with my Front Page that I’m missing.

    I AM able to publish to two other sites without any problems.

    I’ve been working around this problem by using ws_ftp, but it’s a lot easier just to click the button in Front Page.

      Is your ISP using the same version of the server extensions? They are different from FP 98 to FP 2000.

      Cheers

        According to the host, they are using Front Page 2000 extensions. Since I’m using FP 2000, there shouldn’t be any problem.

          Is there a firewall or a proxy server in the way?

            Hardware Firewall: UGate-Plus
            Software Firewall: Zone Alarm

            {Neither of these are preventing me from getting to the site via ftp.}

              Hi

              If it is of any help there was a time when uploading to my 11 or so web sites, two or three of them would not allow access (even using their correct dial-in number) whilst Zone Alarm was on. I deactivated it for these sites and achieved upload. I know this is not your exact problem, but you might try turning off ZA.

              You need to be very careful using ftp to a frontpage enabled site. I did this once out of ignorance, and it crashed the fp extensions. We had to remove the extensions delete the site, reenable the extensions and publish the site. I say we as in me and the ISP. Whilst this is not necessarily the problem it is a caution flag. thinks

            I discovered the problem. I was using CookieCop from PC Magazine which is a Proxy Server. After turning this off (and changing my Internet Connection options) I was able to publish using FrontPage.

            I didn’t think that this was the issue, because it didn’t cause any connection problems on my Win98 machine. It only seems to cause a problem on my Win2K machine?
