AskWoody PlusMarch 5, 2025 at 7:44 am #2753202Important update to this article.
Microsoft now says the Publisher in Microsoft 365 will completely STOP WORKING on 13 October 2026.
It was believed that Publisher would only be removed from installations after that date.
But now it seems Publisher 365 has a timed ‘kill switch‘. Microsoft doesn’t call it that, of course. Instead they say;
“If you have a Microsoft 365 subscription, you will no longer be able to open or edit your Publisher files using Microsoft Publisher”
However Publisher in Office 2021, 2019 or 2016 (or standalone) will keep working.
“If you have the Perpetual version of Publisher, you will still be able to access and edit your files.”

Another reason why I prefer non-cloud versions of software.

You have created files, put in the hard work and now we are going to prevent you using your work. Even better, you are paying us to do it! You must be mad using our products…cheers, Paul
