confused I am new here and this has likely been touched upon but here goes…

Significant Other set up a contact list in Outlook 2K on her laptop. Now we need to get this information into her desktop machine. I have searched every which where in the laptop and cannot find a *.pst file!

    2 questions…

    1. Where the heck is that little buggar hiding and
    2. How do I get it from one machine to the other???

Both machines are running Win XP Home

Any and all help will be GREATLY appreciated!

If you can’t find it by searching, you probably either have hidden files set not to show, or extensions of know files turned off.

      Windows Explorer >
      Tools > Folder Options > View >
      Select:
      Show hidden files and folders
      De-select:
Hide extensions for known file types.

But the easiest way to find where the .pst file is:
      Outlook>
File > Data File Management >
Select the Personal File (probably only one) and click Settings.
(Most likely to be “C:Documents and SettingsUSERNAMELocal SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftOutlookOutlook.pst”)

As for getting it to one machine to the other…
      Are they networked?

If all you need is the contact info, you can export the contacts to a relatively small .csv file, then copy them using a floppy. Open Contacts, File > Import and Export…
I belive there is a wizard that should help, otherwise a quick search in this forum for “export” should yield more info.

        Thank You, Leif!
I knew that the way to get this resolved was to get with Woody’s friends and I would get answers!!!

When I visit later this week i will make sure that I take yor advice and get into the system and make necessary changes…
