How do I bring my pst file of Outlook 2000 into Windows 2000, Office 2000. I have done a search for the pst file logged in as the administrator and have had no luck. Where do I paste the pst file I copied from the old system so it will only show up in my profile. confused

Have you installed, Outlook under Windows 2000?

Have you opened Outlook and set it up using your user account, NOT, the admin account?

If so, go to Users settings and documents you will find all kinds of things under you user name.Using Windows 2000 and XP when it is released, one needs to do a LOT tinking and even some reading.

Once you locate the PST file under your user name, you can relace it with the one you have saved to floppy disk.

Yes I have installed Oulook 2000 under Windows 2000.

Outlook is setup as a user account on my user name.

I cannot find the pst file logged in as user or admin. I do find all users when I go under the task bar setting.

I am not running on a network, I am on a stand alone. I have Doc and Setting
            My Name
            Cookies
            Desktop
            Favorites
            My Documents
            Start Menu
            Programs
            Outlok Express
            IE

            are the only listings

Open your Outlook 2000, menu item File, Import and Export, From a file, File type pst, and point to your old .pst and follow instructions to load up your old address book and email, etc. The new Outlook.pst will save in your current user profile.

Thanks, have the contacts in now, however, I can add and delete contacts no problems. However, when I go to try and send a new message, i get the error message of when I click on TO:
“The address list cannot be displayed. The contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened. It may have been moved or deleted or you do not have permissions ( login as admin). For information on how to remove from the Outlook address book, see Microsoft Outlook Help.

Did you try simply export all your personal files? Go to File | Import and Export | Export to a file | Personal folder (.pst) and from dialog box choose all folders you want to export, name and locaton of PST file you want expotrt to, etc. On another computer (or logon) choose File | Import and export | Import from file, etc.

In Windoze Explorer, Search for *.pst on the system drive. If you do not find it there, search the other drives.

You might need to set your options to display hidden and system files, and file extensions.

Howard is correct. You will need to show the hidden files to find the folder with the .pst file in it. Also while you can see everything you will also find a TEMP file that is hidden in the Local Settings folder. This TEMP folder can aquire a lot of junk and should be emptied every so often.
