    PROBLEM:
Multiple attachments in an email will display different file names, but the content is identical to the first attachment.

User-A had an email with 3 attachments. She selected two of them and forwarded them to User-B to have CDs burned.

User-B opened the email and saved the attachments locally before burning them to disc.

The User-C opened both files from the burned CDs and they were identical in content.

Another instance. User-A sent 10 PDF files to a client. The client received 10 individual files, with different file names.

But when they opened it, the content was identical or duplicates of the first file.

    Any clues?

    Thanks

I’m not sure what exactly what procedure was used there. If User-A simply clicks Forward in the message with three attachments, removes the unneeded attachment, and clicks Send to forward it to User-B, does User-B receive two different files? If so, that is what I would recommend doing.

How were the PDF file attached to the message? I would not expect this result if Outlook’s Insert>File… dialog were used. However, methods that rely on Windows Explorer’s MAPI functionality might not be as reliable.

As a general comment, the user might want to clean out the Outlook temporary folder(s). Any time an attachment is opened, the files are copied here, and if certain file names are commonly repeated, this could confuse things now and then.
