Since upgrading to 3.6.12, Firefox has been behaving differently than it ever has. (I’m running XP SP3 on a Lenovo T-61 4GRAM).

    1. After the program opens, no additional windows can be opened. (this affects everything from pop ups I do permit to print windows – very annoying to have to ask a print window to open in a new tab)
    2. Sometimes, the drop boxes won’t fill in and drop down.
    3. When I close firefox, the task manager shows the process as still running – and it can’t be reopened until the process is ended in task manager.
    4. When I open the program (either after a reboot, or after terminating the process), it wants to restore the previous session with several tabs – even if I’ve closed the tabs well before closing Firefox.

    help! (and Thanks in advance!!)

      Hello Rob –
Please explain #1 and #4 further. They seem to be two different actions upon “program open”?

What tabs are shown for “Home Page”? Can FF be set to be opened with Home pages?

Updates usually don’t break settings or add-ons, but it may happen sometimes. As a diagnostic or workaround, you could try this:

[*]First, make a backup of your computer for safekeeping. To back up Firefox, see Backing up your information.
[*]Next, create a new (blank) Firefox profile. For more information on how to use the Profile Manager, see: Managing profiles.
[*]Assuming that works as desired, you can move key settings like bookmarks from your dysfunctional profile to the new one. For more information, see: Recovering important data from an old profile.

      Any luck?
