Hopefully someone can help. The Print Layout view is not displaying correctly and is not showing the space for the top and bottom margins – i.e. text starts immediately at the “top of the page” and finishes at the “bottom of the page”, despite having top and bottom margins set correctly. See the attachment for an example. If you do a print preview / or even a print, the margin areas show correctly – so it only seems to affect the display. Other view modes seem to work correctly.

If I start Winword with the /a switch it works correctly, but of course this doesn’t load my NORMAL.DOT so I end up having to make all the same changes each and everytime. I’ve been through and deleted and recreated the NORMAL.DOT, made sure there are no other templates / startup documents, tried reparing Word under Add/Remove programs, run Winword /r switch (I’m not sure if this is the same as repairing), and have even used OfficeIns (http://www.nirsoft.net) to disable all of the defined add-ins (Google Search, Adobe PDF, etc)

Does anyone have any ideas of how I can fix this?

      Welcome to Woody’s Lounge!

Select Tools | Options and tick the “White space between pages” check box in the View tab. Alternatively, move the mouse pointer over a page separator and click.

That’s the trick – thank you very much. I still don’t know how it got changed …..

Probably an accidental click near the top of the page…

              just a note, but…

You can double-click the grey area between pages to turn this on, and then when it is on, you can double-click the thick black bar the page confluence to turn it off again.

I have no idea what this feature is for, unless some folks in the MS development end want to do nifty tricks.

Welcome to the Lounge. Actually, you can do it with a single click. whisper

nifty. I did not know that.
I seem to remember having to double-click, but I just tried the single, and it works also.
