I have this weird problem when I want to look at pictures/images with Windows 7 – when I double-click a picture, the background of the picture and the empty area around the picture’s frame become dark yellow/beige as if the picture was printed on an old newspaper. I am sure that when I started using Windows 7 there was the normal white background, but something was changed, and now viewing pictures has become extremely uncomfortable because of this problem.

What is this and how can it be fixed?

    TIA

Do you use Windows Photo Viewer or some other application to view your photos?

Do you see any other odd coloring when in other applications?

      Some possible fixes:

Are you using a desktop PC? Most LCD displays have a set of controls on an OSD (On Screen Display). One of these should be a color temperature adjustment. You can adjust the color “warmth” with this control.

Check your video adapter software to see if the color and hues have been changed.

Try calibrating you color in the Control Panel Display applet.

If adjusting on screen display, video adapter software, display applet, and any other manual adjustments has no effect on the background, and if it hasn’t been too long since this problem surfaced, try using an earlier system restore point and see if the problem is resolved.
