• Printing Problems (IE6/Win2K)

I have come up against a problem with one of our printers, a HP LaserJet 2200DN. For some reason I can not print anything from the internet. Printing works perfectly from any other program (eg. Word, Excel, etc) but if I try and print any web pages it locks up the printer.

I am not sure whether this is the appropriate Forum for this, but thought that I would try here first and see if anyone had come up against this problem before.

Any ideas where I might start looking for a solution?

    Cheers,

      File > Page Setup….
…and check there are legitimate settings there.

      File > Print Preview…
      …does that look OK?

If you use Outlook, can you print HTML-format emails?

        Hi Leif,

Thanks for the reply. The Page Setup settings are fine. In fact we have since figured out that every PC that tries to print from the web to this printer produces the same result, so it is not an individual PC setting problem.

Print Preview works fine. Everything looks great until you actually try to print it.

Outlook HTML formatted emails print fine.

It looks to me more and more like a problem with the printer itself. I have updated the print drivers but this has not made any difference to the problem. I am in the middle of applying a firmware upgrade to the printer to see if that fixes the problem. I will let you know how it goes.

        Thanks again for the reply.

        Cheers,

          Leif,

The firmware upgrade was unsuccessful. However it appears that the culprit all along has been a faulty network card in the printer.

Our problems started getting worse and eventually we were not able to print from any program (or even ping the printers IP address). We cahnged over the network card to see if that would give it a kick start and it has fixed all of our problems. It is even printing from the internet again.

          Thanks for your time.

          Cheers,
