If you are using XP, you may print the contents of a particular help file by clicking the ‘Print’ button at the top of the ‘Help and Support Center’ right-hand content panel as indicated below.

If you know excactly which file you need, you may navigate to C:WINDOWSHelp, choose your .chm file, open, click ‘Options’ and select ‘Print…’. You will then get a dialog box that will give you the choice to print a selected topic or print a selected heading and all sub-topics.

If it’s the old style .hlp file, you may be out of luck. One of the big problems with the old WinHelp system was that you could not print more than a single topic if you wanted to. Later HTML based versions of help (like the one Bruce is refering to) allow you to follow the links like IE allows. This is an old problem, and there may be some utilities out there to print an entire help file. At one point, you could get a .hlp decomplier to convert the file back to something resembling the source, which was an RTF document that you could open and print in Word.

Thank you for your help. I have downloaded a help decompiler utility and it worked fine, I have this help file in Word.

          Hi Marcel

Could you post the link to the site where you downloaded the decompiler? I, for one, would like to add the decompiler to my “collection”.

          Thanks, and……..

          Have a Great day!!!

The .chm files are totally accessible. The .hlp files are not and refer to their corresponding .chm files anyway, so I left them out.
