Is there a way to print a Word document so the style area that I can show on my screen show on the printed copy?

There is no built-in way to do that.

For a short document, you could take screenshots of the pages as displayed on screen, and print those. But this is not attractive for large documents.

StuartR wrote a macro that inserts the style names in text boxes to the left of the text – see post 242,936. A different macro by MVP Doug Robbins can be found in this newsgroup thread. However, both macros modify the document, so you’d have to take care to close the document without saving after printing it (or run the macro on a copy of the document.)
