A user recently opened a ticket that he couldn’t print when remoted in to a local printer. It has been working fine in the past so I’m wondering if it can be something with Windows Updates perhaps.
Both locations are linked via hardware (Sonicwall site-to-site) VPN. Print redirection is enabled in his RDP shortcut. he is remoting in directly to his PC at the other office, not through a server. I remoted into the location where the user and printer were located and opened up the print queue. First, I tested printing a Windows test page to the Konica 554 locally and it was sent over and printed. Next, I left that queue open and tried the same but from his RDP connection and I could see the print job was never sent over.
I tried restarting the print spooler on the remote PC and local but that did not make a difference. Rebooting worked but it seems to be only temporary as I did that for him last week to resolve this and thought it was a one-time issue as he never reboots his machine but today we have the same problem. Rebooting worked again but I’m sure it’s going to happen in the future.
Is there a log that I can check on the remote PC to figure out why it’s not sending the print job to the queue?
Both local and remote computers are Win 10 Pro 1909
