I need to print out folder lists (network, cdrive etc). You used to be able to access MY COMPUTER and therefore the network via Outlook and printing out a basic folder list. In Outlook 2000 it was sooo easy… but can I find out how to do this in Outlook 2003 – no bl***dy way.

Your help would be appreciated I am going crazy trying to figure it out.

This functionality has been removed in Outlook 2003. If you want to print out a list of files and folders, try the free utility Karen’s Directory Printer.

Thanks for this. All I can say is Microsoft are a bunch of idiots.

I have Karenware on my PC and use it quite often for my own use. I was hoping that I could pass the easy Outlook option on to the other people in the office. I don’t really want to have to install it on their PCs and show them how to use is. Tends to go in one ear and out the other.

        Regards

It’s bewildering why MS removes functionality such as this.

FWIW, you can open the “My Computer” file explorer from an Outlook Shortcut, by dragging the “My Computer Icon” from the desktop and dropping it on to the heading of a Shortcut group, but no, because it’s a shortcut which opens the File Explorer outside of Outlook, you can’t print it.

By coincidence I was reading the J-Walk blog and this topic came up and someone who posted a comment said it could be done in Firefox. So, I have downloaded the browser and it certainly did what I wanted it to do.

It does? I have FF on my personal machine – where is that capability?

            • #1020863

In the FF address bar (which currently for me is showing a nice picture of Lex http://www.wopr.com/cig-bin etc etc), all I did was type in file///g:/hetty and it went straight to the directory. Then it was a simple File/Print. Basic file structure, but enough to see what is on the drive when trying to do a bit of file housekeeping.

              Hope my explaination is clear

              Regards

I see what you mean. From the root of any drive (file:///C:/) you can navigate with a click or two…
