Is there anyway to prevent people altering the content of previous messages when replying to or forwarding emails?
Thanks

You can convert the message to a graphic image, a trick I have just learned, thanks to JohnBF. See post 434621.
The problem is the client currently uses groupwise which prevents these changes – they are moving to outlook 2003 and see this as a real threat!
I suppose the answer is that if the email is sent to anyone not using groupwise then this problem will be evident even if the originator is using Groupwise?!
Thanks for the input anyway – was clutching at straws on this one!

To quote 2002’s help
Mark a message as private, personal, or confidential
In the message you want to set the sensitivity level for, click Options.
In the Sensitivity box, click the option you want.
Note Marking a message Private prevents the message from being modified after you send it.
However, anyone who ‘wants’ to modify a mail message could probably fool 99% of the people even in groupwise. Low-tech tricks such as cut and paste into new messages generally work very well
There are always security certificates and encryption if this is a serious issue.
Editted straight after the post.
I’m sure there is a way to make these things default to always be on – I remember working with an HR person who sent all mail as high-importance private – even if it was neither.
