I would like to create a text box with the text in a vertical alignment from top to bottom, so that the letters are stacked upon each other. I’ve tried the “Change Text Direction” tool after enabling various languages in the Microsoft Office Language Settings, but it places the letters on their sides. What am I missing? If I make the text box more narrow, the letters will stack but they are not left aligned or even centered. Thanks for your advice!

There is no special feature for the kind of text you want. You can press Shift+Enter after each letter. Set the text alignment for the text box to Center.

(Thanks to SammyB for the Shift+Enter tip)

          Morning Sarah

Have you tried the wordart options on the drawing toolbar, there are a couple of vertical text options there

          Cheers

          Steve
