I have a e-machine desktop computer that will not power up. It has worked fine for a couple of years, but yesterday it would not power up. I get nothing, no power, no lights, no fan, nothing. I have check the cord and power source and they are fine. I opened the case and there is a light on the motherboard, but that is all. I checked the power button and it appears okay. I can not find any loose connections. What else can I check?

Your local hardware store for a new power supply grin

Most likely your power supply went kaputz, luckily, they’re pretty cheap. Heck, you might be able to go to a pawn shop and get a whole new e-machine for about $50. Are there any other indicator lights on your motherboard/computer? I know the back of most dells have 4 LEDs that will display different colors to indicate specific errors, but I’m not sure that e-Machines do.

I agree with Jeremy. Sounds like the PS to me if you see no other indications like fans running.
Common power supply units are dirt cheap these days and only take about four screws and a couple of power plugs into the motherboard, to change them.

How did you check the power button?
