There ought to be a federal regulation that allows anyone to walk into their local Bank Branch and present their ID and customer credentials and have their credit files locked at all of the credit reporting agencies. And kept locked until the person comes back in to unlock them.

Also all credit reporting companies/credit bureaus should be forced to keep offices in every state capitol so folks can go there in person and fix any errant records.
