    Hi Folks:)

Last December I made a stupid mistake that put alot of malware on my PC. Thanks to your advice I was able to get rid of it through antimalware programs. Thanks again:)

Now, something curious is happening to my computer. It isn’t happening often, in fact it’s only happened twice, but I decided to come here in case it gets serious. While watching cartoons on YouTube my screen began acting funny. First it was slow (at least slower than usual) when I clicked from one cartoon to another, then the sound disappeared. I tried several different cartoons, no sound. When I left the site, it was still slow. Some of the icons in my toolbars disappeared and wouldn’t reappear. So I decided to close, shut down, and restart. When I restarted, a whole bunch of strange, unnamed icons appeared on my desktop; I deleted them. Awhile back I experienced something similar and the unnamed icons were fewer in number. There were more this time. If I run into this problem again will I have a screen full of strange, unnamed icons in the future? I just ran a monthly antimalware sweep a few days ago. Is there something they, maybe, missed?

    Thanks for your help:)

      tiger,
Hello…This could also be a hardware problem ..either with your Hard Drive or Power Supply.. Just to eliminate these there are free programs that will help

      1. HW Monitor see Screen Shot to compare my PC’s Voltage’s to yours

      2. HD Sentinel Free Trial V-4.0…will tell the state of your Hard Drive

Would be helpful if you gave us more details about your OS and PC:cheers: Regards Fred

The same thing sort of happened again. Wasn’t looking at YouTube this time but icons and other things disappeared on my screen again. I logged off and restarted. Seems okay for the moment. No strange icons on the desktop. I want to look at the software first before looking at the hardware. Suggestions anyone?

When that happens, have you tried to open task manager, kill explorer.exe and then launch it again from task manager? This can give you an idea if the issue is with Windows Explorer, which seems to be, as if it were a virus, I doubt simply logging off and on again would get you the normal desktop back.
