I create a great looking web Header in Jasc Paint Shop Pro or Adobe Illustrator…a multi-color graphic with nice detail…nice linestrokes & fill. I optimize the file in .jpeg, .bmp, or .gif format; & preview it in my web browser (from each app.) It looks great! (especially as a .jpeg, believe it or not.) I insert it into my web site file in Publisher; & it looks like crap…jagged edges everywhere. I save the web site as a web page anyway, to take a look at the images in the folder. All the images are .gif’s. What the h _ _ l is it with Publisher? It can’t import standard raster images & have them look good? It saves every graphic image as a GIF? Is “Front Page” just as bad? Please help.

    Thanks.

publisher saves everything as a gif, including text if it overlaps with another element. No, frontpage does not do that… neither will most other web design programs – and anything will do a better job than publisher.
