    Good evening

I have been asked to garnish some information from some financial reports for the Company I work for. Easy I thought, my new found friend Mr. Pivot Table is the man for the job and to an extent he is.

I am selecting date as the row info and then in Data choosing Shipments, Sales, Cost,, Revenue and Reveneu % to produce the pivot table. I now want to show a series of graphs with differnt information fom the pivot table. For example I would like to show a graph for the number os shipments per day, easy, open the Data drop down and deselect everything excpet except shipments.

I then use the information to demonstrate the number of shipments against a particular day.

My problem then is that I want to show a graph with number of shipments and revenue per day side by side, or revenue ad cost etc. but nothing happens?

    Please advise

    Steve

Have you gone back to the sheet with the pivot table, clicked anywhere inside it and used the Pivot Table Wizard to add the fields again?

If that doesn’t help, it’s likely that the data fields have such different scales of magnitude that you only see the one(s) with the largest values. This can be corrected (at least partly) by plotting one or more series on the secondary axis. To do so, select a series, then select Format | Selected Series… and activate the Axis tab.

        Hi Hans

Sorry, I still can’t seem to get it

The snapshot below shows how I have constructed Graph 1 shipments/sales, I now want to make graph 2 sales/cost so I have clicked on the data tab and removed sum of shipments but this then moves the column heading sum of sales over the start of the first column. If I then select cost from the field list and choose eitheradd to row or add to column I end up with about 40 columns?

        Thanks

You shouldn’t get lots of columns if you add Cost to the Row area.
If the grey Data button ends up in the first column, drag it to the right, over the data area.

I was dragging and dropping into the wrong area, I seem to have got it now. Another related question if I may and sorry if this is very basic but I am totally new to pivots.

When I change the series in the pivot table the graph changes to reflect that, what I was tring to achieve was a series og graphs that would show, for example

            Graph 1 – Shipments / sales
            Graph 2 – Sales / Costs
            Graph 3 – Sales / Profit

Would I have to make 3 pivot tables from the same source data to make 3 graphs like this?
