One of my clients mentioned that her machine is ‘a little funny’. At 8am and 8pm, she hears it dial a number, she hears the verbal response ‘that number is not in service’, the modem hangs up. This happens twice at each time.

What is the app? Is there a tool to watch what’s happening? How do we stop it? scratch

It could be Win Fax Pro or a similiar app attempting a scheduled send of a fax.

Thanks Preston ~ I’ll have her check in that direction

          Hi Peter

You could suggest she download Process Explorer from http://www.sysinternals.com.
If she runs it at the appropriate times, and observes the CPU activity, she should be able to identify the application.
Alternatively, she should be able to set her internet connection to deny automatic dialup.

          Have a Great day!!!
          Ken
