Phantom macros (Word 2000)

Hi,
I have a lot of documents that give macro warning “This document contains macros” even though the document does not contain any macros. I read long ago that if you ever save a macro in a document, this message will persist after the macros are all deleted. Is this likely to be the problem? And If so, is there a simple way to get rid of the message?

Note: you’ll also receive the macro warning if your document contains ActiveX components such as controls from the Control Toolbox.

It works perfectly.
I also tried the same techniques on Powerpoint presentations that had the same problem. It also worked in PowerPoint.
