We use Exchange Server 5.5 with Outlook 2000 as our mail client.

Amongst the shared folders is a shared calender to track management meetings and movements. My MD has asked if their is a simple way that he can enter information on his personal calender and the shared calender at the same time, ie, typing it in only once. This doesn’t sound impossible but I’m not very familiar with outlook.

Can this be done with outlook ‘out of the box’ or would is require a bit of tinkering with a form and vba?

    Optimistic thanks in advance.

My department uses a shared calendar, and I just add a new appointment on the group calendar and invite myself as an attendee (button on the toolbar or Actions-Invite Attendees). Outlook prompts me if I want to add the appointment to my own calendar, and I say yes. This probably isn’t exactly what you are looking for, but it should work.

      Hope this helps,
      Becky

Microsoft have created a program called Team Calendar that could solve the problem for you. I have had a quick look at it using Outlook 2000 on Exchange Server 5.5, but I have not used it enough to say it is good or bad.
It can be downloaded from http://msdn.microsoft.com/downloads/defaul…ompositedoc.xml if you are interested.

I’ve been using the Outlook Team Calendar for a few months now. It kind of works – but I’m not too impressed.

        • Each user updates their own calender in the normal way.
        • You have to manually re-synch your team calendar to collect updates from users individual calendars. This works by reading their calendar and putting entries on your team calendar with [their username] at the beginning.
        • Resynch can be pretty slow if you have more than 3 or 4 different calendars synched to your team calendar.
        • If you have more than about 8 calendars synched to your team calendar then it all becomes too small to read, I had to create two different team calendars to synch about 16 other calendars.
