A customer of mine asked me if I knew of any software that converts PDF to Word. He said he tried BCL’s Drake, but had problems with it (it only converted every other page). Can anyone shed any light on this for me? Thanks!

Not sure there is a direct-to-DOC converted. If the PDF is unprotected, Acrobat (paid version, not free version) may be able to convert it to RTF. I’ve never tried that, but I don’t have the full version. grin If you search convert PDF RTF on Google, you will get numerous other leads.

Thanks, jscher. My customer wasn’t satisfied with Acrobat’s RTF conversion capability.
It turns out that the reason Drake was converting only every other page was because it was a demo version designed to do exactly that! After my customer realized this, he decided to go ahead and purchase the complete product from BCL.
I am interested in hearing from anyone who has used Drake, or who is familiar with any other product that does good PDF -to-Word conversions.

Go to scansoft.com and check out their “PDF Converter for Microsoft Word”. While I’ve not used this particular program, I have used ScanSoft’s OmniScan OCR program that can do the conversion. Rather a neat trick: it ‘prints’ the Acrobat file to memory and then scans it with the OCR program to produce the Word file.
