There used to be whole threads about PDF freeware in the Software Finds forum, but moste have gone by now. I found post 262194, links in other posts in that thread don’t work any more.

Anyroad, a Google search should turn up other possibilities.

Thanks, I had not thought of the software finds. I was looking it as a word question. I’ll check out the link you posted.

The more universal solution is to add a “print to PDF” print driver that can capture output from any Windows program. I like the $50 pdfFactory; it has a great feature — it opens a preview window/buffer for your printouts. You can collect several prints into a single PDF that way, and if you see that, whoops, it got cut off with portrait, you can delete that one job and reprint in landscape without having had to save the file in between.

For “free” pdf995 will pop up 3 ads in your browser. For US$9.95, you can make the ads go away. This is a good “low volume” solution, but I myself am hooked on the above.

Thanks – I’m downloading the pdf995 first and giving that a go.
I agree aboout the universality but (at present) the talk is of only word documents as pdf (so they can be downloaded).
