Hi All
As usual, one day it works, the next day…
Its a 2-month old Gigabyte M/B in a 3yr old machine, with a Dual-Pentium CPU + 2GB RAM running happily with Win7, and has been since I put the new MB in (the old one was dead – no power, nada).
Press power button, lights, fans and HD’s all start working, but the screen stays blank (doesn’t even come out of standby).
It sounds like the HD is booting up, but with no visuals I can’t tell.
After about 1 minute, PC shuts down, then restarts.
Cleared BIOS, no change.
Thought maybe the old PSU was straining (its old-ish, and new MB has 24pin power, old PSU has 20pin – but googling said that’s OK, and its worked fine for 2months), so tried the (big beefy) PSU from my main desktop – same result, so not the PSU.
I presume it is the MB, but dont have a spare to prove it.
If it _is_ the MB, I can return it to the vendors, but I need to know for sure that is the problem.
I could take it to a shop for diagnosis, but if it just confirms what I suspect I’m £45 down (pricey in Bath!).
What to do!
Oh, and its not the main house PC, so no panic to get it sorted.
Any ideas greatly appreciated!
