Wonder whether a PC running Windows is compatible with Microsoft’s soon-to-be released operating system Windows 11? Microsoft changed the system requirements of Windows 11 significantly, and many devices that run Windows 10 or earlier versions of Windows fine won’t be compatible with Windows 11 as a consequence….

Interested users can download the official PC Health Check app from Microsoft’s Windows 11 website. You need to scroll down all the way to the bottom of the page and click on the “Download PC Health Check App” link to download the software program to the local system…

What a mess that is! I download that and tell it to check. It sends me to a Microsoft Windows 11 ad. Perhaps, it does that because I run as Admin and that appears to confuse it. Duh.

I ran it easily on the first iteration of Microsoft’s compatibility check and was told (as I expected) that this computer can be upgraded to Windows 11. The first iteration didn’t mind that I run as Admin so maybe that is not the reason for the current problems.

I did switch from Basilisk browser to Microsoft Edge and tried there also but I still get sent to the Windows 11 ad. I doubt I will upgrade on this computer. There is one worrisome thing….Microsoft says this computer is two years old….completely wrong! It is ALMOST four years old (2 and 1/2 months from now). If Microsoft can’t even tell how old this computer is…well….can it tell if the computer can run Windows 11?

The first iteration of the Microsoft compatibility check was far better than this current one.

It does that because you used GPedit/registry hacks to change some settings.
Revert the settings and run again.
