hi, pc does have lots of problems to me especially when it does not like me and when i do not take care of it carefully. now, the pc cannot start interestingly and headache after i restart the pc for the instruction of completing the Windows update. i remember some programs i think is Internet Explorer and Excel file didn’t close down before the restart but i suppose that not cause a pc cannot start. i mean the pc runs from beginning until the screen Windows logo appears then to an information that i didn’t close down the pc correctly and should i choose some options to start the pc like start in normal mode, start as in last good configuration etc. i tried each one and the pc still keeps running from beginning to the Windows logo to the information screen, Windows logo, back to beginning, information screen, Windows logo… now i called up my pc vendor and the contact numbers unavailable making me contact him through e-mail to call me back. i believe the pc still under 1 year warranty i checked out. now, anyone here knows how to fix a pc that cannot restart after following the restart instruction of completing Windows update? THANKS first.

edit: my pc use Windows XP Professional, Asus motherboard, Pentium 4, assembled by salesman.

It sounds like your PC is crashing and restarting at some point during the start up.

      • Do you see anything on the screen as it goes down, or does it go straight from the Windows Logo screen to the start up?
      • You could try using the “Last known good” configuration, as explained in this Microsoft resource kit article

hi StuartR, the pc runs like this Start- Startup Recovery Menu- Windows Logo- and a blink of blue screen with some unclear words because the blue screen blinks very fast and then the pc runs to Start- Startup Recovery Menu- Windows Logo- a blink of blue screen with some unclear words- back to Start again and so on the cycle of the pc runs. I tried with Start in Safe Mode, Safe Mode in Networking, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, Last Known good configuration and Starts Window Normally and the pc still runs the cycle above. Any helps clue ? THANKS.

Oh dear. If you can’t see the blue screen and Safe Mode won’t even boot then I have no idea.

What changes have you made since it was working properly?

hi StuartR, i restart the pc just after the completion of Windows update installation the last i did after i had a good working pc. somehow, i had the pc reformated by pc technician for about USD 2.6 and here in Malaysia it is RM10. i then install my softwares home to save the cost. if not, the reformatting and softwares installation would charge around USD 13 and here in Malaysian Ringgit is RM50. anyway, money is another matter. i want to learn how to reformat the pc? reformat the pc will makes the pc empty, maybe is it called ‘clean’? can you give me the steps to reformat pc or some links to it so that i can have a start? THANK YOU StuartR.

hi Tony, just want to check with you although let me explain first with how my pc went, i got the pc installed with XP myself with the guide displayed during my XP installation.

is reformat pc is same as reinstall XP? as i understand and wanted to do is delete all the software and whatever data available in the pc after i done this procedure. i seems to know that the techinician deleted all my data and files using CD before asking me to reinstall XP, which means deleting the old stuffs is another procedur? thanks.
