Bottom line be aware that the different vendor implementations of 365 means you may not have all the options you see talked about on the web.

Isn’t this situation unique to GoDaddy?

“Every time you have to sign in to a Microsoft site for anything the first thing that happens is it kicks you to a new window for GD- and GD has done jack **bleep** to make this process seamless.

Office 365 as a Microsoft service is fluid and seamless as designed and comes with Microsoft support as well!!!
DO NOT USE GODADDY OFFICE 365!”

“I purchased my Office 365 Business plan through GoDaddy. I feel so violated!!!”

“I will tell you that this so called “Email and Office” product thing is no more than “” Marketing Ransomware “” they will nickle, and dime you to death, and not even offer you more value than MS

I agree for Office 365 GD is not the answer!!!”

“GD Office 365 is a rip off and most importantly, it is a IT management nightmare.”

“The Godaddy Office 365 product does not have all the same features compared to buying direct from Microsoft for pretty much if not the same price. Don’t be fooled by Godaddy sales people like I was.

Just buy from Microsoft … I feel silly for not realizing this.”

“The godaddy team, while being nice and trying to help, is utterly useless when it comes to troubleshooting ANYTHING related to Office 365. The product capabilities are slightly reduced, but the worst thing is that the integration of the godaddy portal and the M$ portal to administrate some is the most useless piece of sh..t development I have seen in my 30+ years in IT. Nothing really works

      DON’T USE GODADDY FOR O365 !!!”

“The downside to this is that you have limited control over your Office 365 tenant.

These tasks are relatively simple with the built in tools Microsoft has for Office 365, but are a challenge with GoDaddy controlling the tenant.”

“Can’t agree with you more on this. GoDaddy chops what M$ intended at the knees and then pretends it doesnt know what you mean that there should be more administrative tools with you O365 subscription than they give you. Never ever ever use GD’s verison of O365.”

“Subscribing to MS Office 365 through GD was a HUGE mistake.

The only benefit I’ve gotten out of this cluster is a big boost in my self-taught IT skills,”

“Regarding the office 365 business premium, I would buy it from anywhere other than GoDaddy. The recurring costs is where they get you (and their flavor of o365 sucks).”

There are a couple of other vendors that wrap their billing around 365.  I don’t have access to all of them to check, ergo the post.  I just know for sure that godaddy doesn’t expose all of the 365 interfaces such as secure score.

Sounds like the makings of a good CIO article.

GoDaddy should get kicked in the teeth, and other providers should be put on notice that they won’t get away with nickle-and-diming their customers.

Susan, you’re just looking at the difference between an Enterprise (E5) plan and an individual one (GoDaddy) – sort of like comparing Windows 10 Home to the Enterprise version.

The ability to set blocking on email forwarding it a key security recommendation.  We should be able to set it on a Volkswagen as well as a Cadillac… or your analogy Windows 10 home to Windows 10 Enterprise.

Like Applocker and other new security features only available on Enterprise versions? 😉

I think any serious security feature should not be available only to certain versions. It reduces the security on the Internet for everyone and for no real benefits. I don’t think people who choose Enterprise would not do it because the security features are now available in Home and Pro version.

          • #237037

Eh, if not for the security and compliance features the E* offerings would… I mean there’s Power BI Pro and the voice features, …  what else that doesn’t fall under security and compliance?

            • #237468

The ability to defer feature upgrades much longer, some group policies features that work to disable consumer features, App-V, UE-V, access to LTSC, the ability to turn telemetry to 0, eliminate the annoying lock screen, disable the store… I’m not that familiar with Enterprise version, but I ran into it often when looking at things where the description says that works only for Enterprise and Education version. Maybe that would not be enough to many companies, I don’t know. I would have thought so in big corporations where it makes sense to centrally manage the stations.

I think the question was about Office, but your answer is all about Windows.

            • #237555

My bad. i made the first analogy to Windows, digressing, but I didnt realize the answer to my Windows comment was for Office so I responded with Windows.

        • #236893

Oh, I agree – but don’t blame GoDaddy for selling the cheaper O365 packages. (I’m sure they’re not the only ones doing so – Microsoft certainly “sells” the same garbage directly.)

Microsoft determines the feature set, right?

      • #236894

Given the disrespect (if not outright contempt) that we’ve seen with Microsoft and Home users of Windows, it wouldn’t surprise me if this is evidence of Microsoft using entry-level users as leading-edge testers, to debug things that they intend to introduce to Enterprise versions later.

Certainly, it’s possible that there are issues with GoDaddy, and maybe there’s a combination of problems with both Microsoft and GoDaddy. However, if I have to choose between one and the other being the source of this kind of problem, my money is on Microsoft.

    • #236891

GoDaddy is uhh… GoDaddy… So Microsoft doesn’t care about the perception of their Office software product? Would this not have another negative effect, as like us being perpetual testers for Windows 10 Home?

So it seems that the GoDaddy Online Essentials is basically the same as Office 365 ProPlus, or am I wrong about that?
