Really quite annoyed that Microsoft has decided to stop developing modern authentication for on-premise Exchange 2016/2019.

It’s gotten to the point where I am now blocking access to our webmail portal from any outside country at the firewall. Good thing none of our staff/users ever leave the country.

But just because it makes sense for Microsoft’s bottom line to have everyone pay a subscription model for hosted email, it doesn’t add up for everyone’s budget.

No matter where you go, there you are.

Well, that and it also doesn’t fit everyone’s requirements.

Especially those who can’t quite completely trust Microsoft for various reasons…

How does this relate to Office 365 Home and Personal users?

What should they take away from this?

      Thanks!

        Where is your email hosted?

Email hosting isn’t included with Office 365 Home or Personal:

None of your seven links apply to home/personal users, do they?

If you are using Outlook’s personal email product, then you still want to add two factor and check out the authenticator app.  Even if email hosting is not included, where your email is located means you may (or may not) have a bullseye on you.  Outlook’s personal email platform and Office 365 email hosting are both big targets.

“Bottom line, know that yes, they really really really are out to get you.”

Who?  Attackers for M$ for more money?   It’s like seat belts in your car….  M$ has a stance that security is their priority but yet you pay more monthly for things like log checking.  They sell their services with the expectation that anyone can set it up and support it, so goodbye traditional, expensive IT department.  I’ll tell you this, my CEO knows nothing about MFA and he knows that he doesn’t know, so I still have a job even if I have nearly nothing on prem.  I feel sorry for the companies that still have the wool pulled over their eyes.
