Well, at least it brings the WaaSAssessment registry values into correspondence with the W10 build that is actually installed.

“Note it doesn’t go into detail what the ‘missing solution’ is.”

No, it doesn’t, but a glance at all the files installed under \Windows\System32 and elsewhere with modified dates that are later than the original KB4458469 release suggest that it must have involved numerous and major changes.

      “Missing Solution” nice Microsoft.

    • #220019

Win10 Pro v1709 Build 16299.665 Settings SAC, feature delay 365, quality delay 0, no pause.

Even as a “seeker” I am not offered 4457136 through Windows Update.

      • #220023

I’m running 1803, Pro, standard advanced settings. When seeking, I just got KB 4458469

        • #220027

If you are running SAC (Targeted) you should probably get it.

        • #220030

Win10 Pro v1803 Build17134.286 SAC, feature delay 365, quality delay 0, no paise, metered.

            Another roller-coaster and merry-go-round on W10.
Why should anyone have to go through all these steps and settings to receive an update that has no documentation on what the patch addresses?
Don’t MS have a framework that firstly describes the patch THEN, and only THEN, release the patch?
It’s not rocket science, it’s common sense!

there again, you can’t buy that.

Windows - commercial by definition and now function...
          • #220036

            OMG. That’s utterly ridiculous!

            I wonder if there’s a timing discrepancy?

          • #220070

Yea, there is something in the deferral process that is impacting this “seeking” behavior.

            • #220078

I suppose we should at least be glad this behavior only appears to affect non-security updates. Setting QU deferral to zero appears to be sufficient for Patch Tuesday security updates regardless of SAC or or SAC(T)

      • #220065

Win10 Pro 1709 Build16299.665 SAC, feature delay 365, quality delay 0, no paise, metered.

        + Seek – not offered 4457136
+ Took it off metered, set it to SACT, set feature delay to 150 (using @zero2dash ‘s method).
        Was offered feature update 1803.
+ Set feature delay to 250 – says It’s up to date.

Can’t find a way to get 4457136 without manual download.

So – are any of these “Sept 20 missing solution” patches available via WSUS?

I – like many others here – had a boatload of WSUS sync failures etc over the last few days – but even now after the sync seems to now be working fine – I still do not see these “C” and “D” week patches.

Could I be missing a Product classification or something? Outside of the usual suspects – I do not have Feature packs or Service Packs checked. Do these classifications offer up these “C” and “D” week patches?

      Appreciate any info on this.

      Sonic.

Yes they are up in WSUS.  It’s called the “Dynamic Cumulative update for Windows 10 Version 1803…”  You can approve them if you want.

        • #220072

P.S. it’s in the “Updates” classification.  So if you don’t sync that category you won’t see it.

1803…Feature delay is 0 , metered is on, SAC not targeted. I’m not being offered 4464218 or 4458469. If I were to update today I would end up with build .285  .

      • #220052

That sounds reasonable. But I haven’t worked with those settings so it’s a guess.

    • #220077

maybe wait until late afternoon of 9/27 or by the end of September for these new updates to become available thru WU

    • #220117

Just when I thought we’d get above DefCon 2 soon, they mangle it up again.

“Solution” sounds like a euphemism for “fix” to me. Fix what, would be nice to know.

    • #220116

Has Microsoft ever been anything better than “Not Transparent”? Looks like their whole “oh we’ll be more transparent and honest with you guys” was just cheap talk.

    • #220120

How many versions of Windows 10 exist?

      What are those versions?

It is incredulous that after 30 years of Windows as an OS, Microsoft has not only not improved Windows updating they have managed to mangle it badly, driving many users to start looking at other systems that do not have overly large downloads at seemingly random dates, with no explanations provided. After over three years of Windows 10 getting worse, not better, we’re not taking it anymore.

on 9/26 updated a PC from 1709 to 1803 and it is at 17134.286.  Updated a second one on 9/27 and it is at 17134.320

    • #220136

P.S. it’s in the “Updates” classification. So if you don’t sync that category you won’t see it.

I have “Updates” checked and have had it checked for months. There is no sign of these patches – my WSUS sync schedule is set to every 2 hours.

Mind you – this has been going on for a long long time now. I never see any Windows 10 updates that release in the last half of any given month. The only patches I get without fail are the main cumulative patches offered on Patch Tuesday.

The only patch that I see that is remotely connected to this is KB4464218 – which came down on Sept 17.

There is no sign of anything that was issued on Sept 26 like KB4458469 for v1803 or KB4457136 for v1709.

I just reviewed the Synchronizations Panel in WSUS – and the last time I got any patches were 2 on Sept 17.

And for fun – I start a manual sync 10 minutes ago – it never completed the sync. Then I clicked Stop – and it would not stop after 5 minutes of trying. Just rebooted the server.

I must be missing something else here.

What OS categories are selected?  I definitely get them here on WSUS.

I have Windows 10 and Windows 10 LTSB checked. That is all. Am I missing something?

I believe it’s in the Windows 10 dynamic category.  bottom line I would choose the entire Windows 10 category, not just the plain 10.

Windows 10 GDR-DU is the product classification.

Getting some complete “Feature Update” frenzy in WSUS with “updates”/”upgrades” (re)released Sep 27, 2018… but only for x64… plus pointing to same ages old files?! Why do I need to deal with such useless mess in WSUS?

      • #220187

Seeing this too – Feature update to Windows 10 for lots of different versions. KB3012973

    • #220146

Hi, I had gone out and manually procured 469 for both my win 10 1803 64bit home machines a couple days ago, tonight they both took it again when I searched. However (and it might be a big however) they both went straight to  “downloading  -91%” stayed like that for about 5 minutes then zipped up to 99-100% and played “Pending install” for another 2 or 3  minutes then both demanded a restart which wasn’t much slower than a normal boot.

I guess my point is, it didn’t seem to put a whole lot more into my systems this time around. Like maybe they just forgot a little something the first time around.

I’ll stay tuned for other folks’ experiences

      Thanks

Speaking of updates…Version 1803 Win 10 Pro and updated, hiding KB4100347. All went well and Windows says I’m up to date. Checking, I see KB4464218 9/17 and KB4458469 9/26 offered and bringing the build up to 17134.320. I did not get or even offered these two updates. Anyone know possibly why my system skipped these and why it’s saying I’m up to date if I’m not ? I’m showing I’m at build 285 with no updates showing.

Those two updates are “Previews” of next month’s CU. They are meant for testing and are not offered withe the common deferral settings.

Please see other posts in this thread.

Windows 10 GDR-DU is the product classification.

So I checked all the “GDR” options plus a few more (See attachment) – did a sync and I still only get updates through to Sept 20 – and they are only super minor things like this:

      https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4457190/compatibility-update-for-upgrading-to-windows-10-version-1803

But no sign of any of the re-releases (or even the originals) and nothing released in or around the 25th or 26th etc.

Getting close to giving up here now. And I am not going to check any of the Windows 10 “Servicing Drivers” categories as those logically should have nothing to do with this.

      Any other ideas?

      Sonic
