If you lived in Japan – or had business dealings with Japan this is a big big deal and a big problem.  These updates are getting Office ready for that upcoming event.

It sounds to me like a complete overreaction and hype to describe this as a big, big problem. Nothing bad will happen if any software change required doesn’t happen before the new era starts, especially if people are forewarned that it won’t be changed.

I travelled through  Japan earlier this year independently, so I was buying my own train and  bus tickets, booking hotels etc. Not once was I aware of this Japanese era calendar so any impact is likely to be limited in scope. This seems like an opportunity for the Japanese to agree to ditch the era calendar in computerised areas.

Quick question. What happens to pulled updates that you have already got approved and installed? Are they getting automatically removed from workstations or are they to be removed manually? Thank you

My experience has been: once installed, the update remains installed unless deliberately uninstalled. It’s difficult to back up on the highway.
