Hi,

In a Word2k document, I want the red squiggles that represent a spelling error to apply to all the text except for the extracts of Code.

Is that possible? One thing that may help is that I do have a separate Style set for the code.

Do you want the squiggle to apply to all text, correctly spelt or not ?

Does it have to be red ?

You can apply underlining and set it to wavy (i.e.squiggles), but I don’t think you can select a separate colour for underlining, it is the same colour as the text. Maybe there is a way.

Just to clarify my Q:
I want Word to check the whole document excluding the parts which have code.
Is that possible? or does spell checking HAVE TO be for the whole document, start to end?

I created a paragraph style called MacroText. It is based on Normal, but the font colour is violet and the language is set to No proofing.

Try this: (Word97) Format, Styles, MacroText, Modify, Format, Language, and then scroll up to the top of the list.

Hi musab:

You can do one of two things:

1. You can select some text, & then go to Tools/Language/Set Language. In Word 2000, there is no language called no proofing (too bad, I liked that). But you untick the box that says to check for spelling & grammer.

2. You can create a style, as Chris points out in his post. I think this is the preferable solution, except you uncheck the box for spelling for that style, as opposed to “no proofing”. But violet….???

Hey. There’s a neat macro I’ll write tonight. User selects some text, I throw up a GUI colour panel, user selects two or more colours and I colour alternate letters.

Any buyers?
