How come you can buy 4 for $1 at Joe’s the DIY shop whilst 8 of them also cost the same at Burts the iron mongers round the corner. Wallmart seems to offer the best deal as they sell 16 of them for the knock price of $2 and believe it or not the same price tag is shown next to 24. All multiples of 4 but what is the significance and what is the product? Dave.

I know the answer, but the question is wrong!!

It is not “whilst 8 of them also cost” and “they sell 16 of them for the knockdown price” but simply “whilst 8 also costs” and “they sell 16 for the knockdown price”.

“Of them” indicates it is a quantity!
