      Is that a typo in there, Jeff? I didn’t want to get too bold and edit something without your knowledge.

      Looks good, but how does it match up against Comodo, also free?

        To be honest, there’s no comparison. As of late, there are quite a number of people I know who used to extol Comodo but now they won’t even install it. Seems there are issues with it.

        There’s really only way to know if it is “better” is to go ahead and give it a try. Outpost’s reputation of being an excellent firewall is well known.

        Thanks. I’ve had some “issues” with Comodo, so I’ll try Outlook.

      To Dennis and Jeff:

      Would either or both of you be so kind as to post what some or all of the “Comodo issues” might be, for the benefit of ME and anyone else who uses Comodo presently, please?

      If there’s something lurking, that hasn’t bitten me yet, I’d like to do some investigating before (or if) I throw Comodo over the starboard rail!

        Every software app has problems. Comodo certainly does but I’d bet that every other firewall product does also.

        I’ve been using Comodo firewall for some time. Generally it runs OK but I recently had a strange problem with the prior release. However, the problem may be caused by another application which I have isolated (I think).

        If you want to investigate Comodo problems then check out their forum:

        Two issues in particular: Very slow in initializing, cpu usage spiked and slowed down the whole bootup process;
        checking the “treat this installation as an update” (or words to that effect) most of the time didn’t work–alert windows for different parts of the same update kept popping up.

          Thanks Dennis. I haven’t had a problem with either of those, but I’ll be on the alert!
