Outlook works ok, OE6 works ok, but they don’t play well together.

Supposedly, OE6 is installed as the default newsreader, but Outlook’s “news” button sometimes launches OE, sometimes not.

I’ve taken to closing Outlook, launching OE6 from my toolbar, and then restarting Outlook.

Any way to end the feud between them?

outlook uses the news engine in express – it loads the exe with a /outnews switch. you can do the same thing by adding either /outnews or /newsonly to the end of the command line for a current express shortcut. (newsonly gives a different title to the window)

Neither of those switches is recognized by Outlook.

          those are outlook express switches.

OE does not object to the switches.

But, the switches do nothing to alleviate the problem. If in Outlook, i click on View | Goto | news, OE just lies there like it was dead.
