I’m using 64-bit Outlook 2010 on a 64-bit Win 7 PC. I also use the latest Outlook Connector. I am also using Skydrive which is loaded and synched during startup. Having a number of live accounts, I do not check “leave me logged in” checkbox when I manually log into hotmail or skydrive. Skydrive may have nothing to do with the Outlook errors, but I thought that perhaps it might be associated with my problem.

When I first start Outlook, the automatic Send/Receive occurs with the message that there was an error. When I investigate the error it shows
“Task ‘don332@msn.com’ reported error (0x8004102A) : ‘Error with Send/Receive.'” If I now manually click on Send/Receive I receive the ‘Send/Receive Error’; however, the new email arrives!! The first message I attempt to read (not necessarily the newest one) gives a popup error message shown in the attachment. Strangely enough, that message successfully opens and each successive new message opens without error!! Thereafter, new message are received without error unless I click on Send/Receive again.

Why does Skydrive authenticate my live id (the same as my email address) but not Outlook??

If I exit Outlook and open it again, the whole business repeats again. This is getting increasingly annoying. Any thoughts or suggestions?

With Office 2010, Microsoft recommends that you only use the 64-bit version if you very specifically need something such as a very very large spreasheet.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Outlook Connector?

Have you checked the sync folder for error details?

Unfortunately I have the 32-bit version of Outlook 2010. I purchased the 2-license (1 PC) version from Microsoft Store and chose the download option (maybe it wasn’t available on disk). I can’t remember if 64-bit version of it was available at the time of the download. I think not as I almost certainly would have chosen the 64-bit. C’est la vie! Use of the 32-bit doesn’t seem to me to be a factor. I have had it for two years and it only started having the problem in the last few months. I’m wondering it the problem arose when one of the many MS updates of Outlook botched things up for me.

I did have the matching 32-bit Connector installed. Following your suggestion, I uninstalled that and reinstalled from Microsoft site (of course choosing the 32-bit version.) Unfortunately this did not solve the Send/Receive problem.

I’m not acquainted with Outlook’s sync folder. Where do I find it? Is this the same as clicking on the Send/Recieve error message on the lower right side of the screen. If so, I looked at details and it showed what I reported in my initial post.

I’d be happy to entertain other ideas you or others have.

I guess another option would be to uninstall Outlook and reinstall it. I had carefully save the initial Outlook installation file.
