Outlook 2k with all latest updates (as of 17 May) installed SR-2, etc. When I send binary attachments, they arrive a few k bigger, and unreadable. I even tried “un-ZIP” on them, and they are truly mangled. Text attachments come through fine. I have tried un-loading Outlook and reinstalling, with no success. Tried turning off Norton Antivirus, etc. and still no-go. This problem occurs when I send back to myself and when sending to others. I have to get this working for work immediately…help!

are they winmail.dat? if yes, change to plain text in tools | options | mail format. Also, for best results, don’t use word as the editor.

No. They keep the same name and extension, but are a few k larger, and mangled/unreadable by anything.

how are you sending – by using the insert menu or by using the find > send to menu in the original application?

From within Outlook 2k, I start at the Inbox and use CTRL-N to create a new message. Then add the TO and SUBJECT then either type the message first or use the paperclip icon to attach the attachment first (I’ve tried both). I have also tried dragging the files over to the e-mail and drop-attaching them.

I have made sure MIME is selected with NONE for encoding. I am NOT using Word as my editor. I’ve tried MSCONFIG and unselected everything I can and made sure nothing was even run before testing Outlook. No go. I also un-installed and re-installed Outlook. No go. I’m at the point of un-installing all of Office, deleting the stupid Office directory and re-installing, but am worried that won’t even help…
