Since the Cumulative Update for Win 10 1809 on 7 March, Outlook mail won’t display pictures even after Automatic Downloads are OK’d in the Trust Center.

All I get is the Red X and the Error Message “The linked image cannot be displayed. The file may have moved, renamed, or deleted. Verify that the link points to the correct file and location.”

This happens to all emails including those I normally get from Companies or organizations as well as those from Individuals. All these email were working fine prior to the Mar 7 update

You may run into that with Outlook 2010 or 2013. Moreso with 2010 because it uses older security protocols that are no longer supported. Possible workaround here:

Just noted this in the office 2016 topic. D’OH!

Be sure the sender is in the Outlook safe senders list.

      Unfortunately the entry
      Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\x.0\Common
      DWORD: BlockHTTPimages
      Value: 1

Does not exist so I can not delete it.

I tried that answer already, doggoneit <G>

Thanks for pointing that out, I missed that the article applied to Office 2016

I just installed 2019-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1809 for x64 based System (KB4489899) and lo and behold the problem went away !!!

Not only that but the problem of Edge not displaying https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/ now work without any problems.

My conclusion is that the 2019-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1809 for x64 based System (KB4492978) was creating the problem and it had nothing to do with MS Office 2016 Outlook

If you got KB4492978 on 3/7/2019, you must be getting Release Preview updates (only that ring got it).

As you’re getting Insider Preview builds, that would be the reason you can only pause updates for 7 days and not 35, as mentioned in your first post and screenshot.
