Woke up this morning to find junk mail in my inbox!!! This was only on my IPAD Outlook App. My laptop seems to be fine.  I am using paid version MS365. I keep my device/apps updated.  I could not understand why I was suddenly seeing junk mail in my inbox!  I did a little searching and saw an option to reset my outlook on IOS, which I did. That, at least, started syncing things better, but the junk mail still comes into my inbox first, then goes to junk and I get an audible tone every time there’s a new email, which should only be for legit emails!!!  It was not working that way.  Searching again online, WHY??? all of a sudden???? and then i found this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Outlook/comments/116zj3g/why_is_junk_mail_suddenly_coming_into_my_inbox/

Anyone else having this issue??? I hope this is it bc if it isn’t, I have no clue how to fix this. And one more thing, I have 2 junk mail folders on IOS, I don’t know why.  The laptop folder is named “Junk Email” The IOS folders are named “Junk” but it’s been working.  I don’t know how to delete or rename an IOS folder. Does anyone? thanks

Looks like a problem at MSFT’s end..antispam/junk filter failure seems likely..

We too woke up to this problem and are searching for a solution!

I don’t think you should be searching for anything at this point, I think we have to wait for MS to fix!! It does not seem to be isolated to individual users. Which is a good thing bc when it’s just you having the trouble, it’s just YOU and you have to find a fix. But not a good thing if MS doesn’t fix it, which is always a possibility with them!!! Sigh, we will see.

Not sure if this is going to be any Help but a few weeks ago Junk Email started  appearing in my inbox, no worries I’ll just make another rule, went to check the rules and the rule was still there, well make another one then, it seems M$ have removed the ability to create new rules. In the meantime had updated Office 2019 for Mac to O365, couple of Solutions on an iMac and MacBook  here, either boot in to Windows 10 then Outlook 2019 and set you’re mail rules, which are still being honoured (for now) or revert back to the old style Office 2019, which I ended up doing. Not a very realistic solution for you I am guessing on an iPad. Went over to the usual M$ forums to see if there’s anything different that could be done and it. Seems the “Softies” are pretty unrepentant about this, citing the usual “do you have the latest updates?’ well duh! guess how I got in this pickle in the 1st place. Could this be a new feature? fault or a glaring omission?

…GOOD NEWS: As of about 10 minutes ago (it’s 10:59am MST where I live) things started going back into my Junk folder. Maybe they fixed it. If not, my next solution is to just tell all my contacts my Gmail address and switch over to that permanently…

Bless Microsoft for getting mail at all.
Don’t forget to pay for a larger Inbox storage to accommodate all the spam mail. /s

I had the same problem on my free hotmail/outlook.com account.  And to make matters worse, there were a bunch of subscriptions I didn’t make which I promptly removed.

As of approximately 1:14pm M$ Answers forum time or U.S. CST it seems to have abated and others are saying the same on page 19 of the topic that Microfix mentioned in post #2535964.

New junk mail is now going to Junk Email and not my Inbox, whew.

New junk mail is now going to Junk Email and not my Inbox, whew.

I had the same problem yesterday morning. 107 Junk e-mails in my Inbox. Completely unacceptable. On checking my Inbox several times yesterday, I found the number of Junk e-mails in my Inbox SLOWLY became fewer. At last check before shutdown last night there were only 32 pieces of Junk in the Inbox.

This morning, it SEEMS like everything is as it SHOULD be. Only 2 pieces of Junk in the Inbox. I could be wrong, but it looks like it may be fixed, FOR NOW.

Yes it appears to be ok this morning.  And for me, the amount of junk mail is a lot less than it had been!!!  Strange……but, let’s hope this continues 😁. This had happened once before where junk mail nearly stopped for a day or two. But then, just as suddenly, ramped right back up where it had been!

Almost all my  junk mail comes in to my old email id, which I have to delete.  I have been putting it off because it may still be out there with legitimate uses that I have not identified + I’m scared I’ll mess something up when I delete it and delete my MS account.  It’s just a fear I have because I’ve never deleted an email from my MS account. I expect that the primary alias will be fine, but I feel like you never know with Microsoft or me, I have screwed things up! The account was created many years ago with the email alias I am deleting.

Now, I have 3 aliases –  the old (compromised one), a new one I try to use for everything and the 3rd one – which is the primary and only one allowed to logon.  It was supposed to be just for Apple/MS office accounts, but that has not worked as I had hoped. It is  limited use for that one.  I also use Apple Hidemyemail as much as I can for online accounts.  I think what worries me most is the fact that once you delete an MS email, it’s gone, instantly and forever. And if you make a mistake, there is no going back. Gulp. I will gather my courage up and delete the old email soon…..I have to.

Any comments, feedback or guidance would be appreciated. Have you deleted an MS email alias? Any problems??? Suggestions? thanks! Donna
