I am using Outlook 2002 with Windows XP. Outlook frequently hangs especially when it has been in a minimized “state”. When I maximize it nothing happens. If I right click on the task bar my only option is to close which I do. Then the program closes, an error report is sent to MS and the follwing is in the event viewer: Hanging application OUTLOOK.EXE, version 10.0.3416.0, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000. Along with this message is another one that states: Fault bucket 03902186.. I don’t know what these mean but it is very annoying since it happens almost daily. I installed the SP1 hoping that it would fix this problem. If anything it might be worse. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody LoungerJanuary 2, 2002 at 5:40 pm #561137is there any other information about the cause of the hang? without having more information about what modules are involved, i can’t begin to guess.
sometimes mine refuses to restore with a click on the button, but it will restore on right click, restore. it doesn’t happen alot though.

AskWoody LoungerJanuary 3, 2002 at 9:51 am #561269For more information sends me to a website that used to tell me to install the SP1 fix, which I did. Now it happens even more. Now there is no further information. Could it be related to the “Create rule” to delete garbage emails? After this occurs I get email from my server and the first email is always duplicated.

AskWoody LoungerJanuary 3, 2002 at 7:01 pm #561367May not be relevant, but do you have Norton AV as well. NAV2002 especially causes serious problems under WinXP – especially for OL. As a minimum you need to disable “Start Auto-Protect when Windows starts up (recommended)” (Options -> NAV->Auto-Protect). This advice was from Symantec & it does fix some problems.
Instead, put a shortcut to NAV in the Windows Startup folder.
Winfax10.02 Lite (& full?) also cause problems with Outlook
