• Outlook email attachments (2003 SP2)

I’ve had a problem for a while in which I cannot attach emails to other emails for sending, or open emails attached to emails that have been sent to me. I get “Cannot create attachments. The object could not be found.” message. Curiously, if I forward an email with an attached email to a colleague, I can open it on their machine, so the problem isn’t corruption of the attachments.

Other MS and non MS attachments seem to work fine.

I’ve checked file associations, and that doesn’t seem to be the problem.

    Any ideas?

I’ve never seen that message myself, but here’s an idea. We use a metadata cleaning add-in that checks attachments when sending. It often issues error if a message has only .MSG type attachments. Do you have any add-ins or COM add-ins that might be interacting with attachments in any way?

Thanks for the suggesion – no, it remains a mystery. (Sorry not to have replied sooner – I tried, but the board was busy or something.)
