okay IT Gurus time to put your know-how to the test as I have reached the end of my tether with this problem:
XP Pro SP2
Outlook 2003
I use a desktop calender proggy called Rainlender which “reads” and displays appts etc in a corner of the desktop.
I initially had both mine and wife’s accounts as admins and imported my outlook data into her
account to allow her to view my calender entries/appointments etc from her
account. Actually she never opens outlook – this simply allowed Rainlender on her login to be able to read my “master” calender and display all dates/appointments/on-calls etc on her desktop.
For security I changed her to a limited user. The “shortcut” for my
calender is still there in her Outlook but an error “dont have permissions to
expand/open” always comes up.
I tried logging in as Administrator in safe mode, clicking properties of my outlook folder
[containing the .pst] and giving her “read” permissions but still it won’t
allow me to have her access my calnder whilst she is a limited user.
I even tried doing the same thing and giving “full” permission but still get the same error.
SO – how do I manage to let a limited user access an admin user’s Outlook calender? I guess 1 solution might be to set up another profile in both logins [“shared”] and put it in a public folder BUT then I don’t know how this 2nd profile would be able to synch with mine all the time either and this is not an elegant solution either.
Obviosly I could just install MS Exchange but this is using a bulldozer to crack a nut I feel!
