Outlook 2021 not showing pictures

Starting a few months ago certain emails with embedded pictures won’t show the pictures. I get the error: “The linked image cannot be displayed.” If I click on the image, it opens in my browser. I’ve scoured the’net looking for a solution and have tried every one that I could find, to no avail. Does anybody have any solutions to this issue? Any help would be appreciated.

I’m pretty sure an update from Microsoft caused it, as I never had the problem until recently.

Sorry for the delay in responding. I tried all of the “fixes”/”recommendations” in the linked thread and several others doing my own research and the problem still persists!

I can’t find that build number listed for Office 2021, only Current Preview.

Has Office been updated recently? (As that build was mid-December, six updates ago.)

Are you signed up for Insider pre-release updates?

I’m not signed up for Insider pre-releases. I follow Susan Bradley’s recommendations for installing updates. As far as I can ascertain, I have installed all of the Office 2021 updates that have been released.

Susan’s Master Patch List shows that Office 2021 should be on build 18324.20190, so see if you get a more recent version at Word, File, Account, Update Options, Update Now.

Okay, I checked for updates per you suggestion and updated Office. Here’s the build info after the update:

Microsoft® Word 2021 MSO (Version 2501 Build 16.0.18429.20132) 64-bit

I checked for updates again this morning and it reports “You’re up to date!”.

The issue is still present in Outlook.

You could check the registry for BlockHTTPimages at two locations listed:

The Linked image cannot be displayed error in an Outlook email message

Sorry for the delay in responding.  I followed an earlier “fix” that had me check for the  BlockHTTPimages registry value and if it was, to set it to 0 (zero). I had done that, but no success. I followed the procedure from the link that you sent and deleted it. I then rebooted the PC, but still no change.
