IMHO these days I would never want that box unchecked.  Too many things are using our inbox as the entry point into our computers.  https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/office-365-now-opens-attachments-in-a-sandbox-to-prevent-infections/  It may be related to that and it’s a really good thing if so.

IME that box makes absolutely no difference to most users blithely opening everything and anything. MS would be better off running a scan on the file and then opening it if OK. We’d still get malware, but at least we’d have a fighting chance of keeping users at bay.
