I am having trouble setting up server information for Rise Broadband in Outlook email.  The information I can dig up is Rise Broadband’s Requirements and how I’m interpreting it.

    Tell me what you need.

      Email setup is here: https://www.risebroadband.com/my-account/my-webmail/

These settings should be entered in the Outlook Account Setup.
Your Username is your full email address

Here are the settings I’ve applied.  As best as I understand their instructions.  I am very much a novice on this stuff.

      INCOMING MAIL

      USER NAME: xxxxxx@xxxxxdotnet
      Password: xxxxxxxx
      Remenber password ON
      Server:  securemail.risebrodband.net   PORT  995
This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL/TLS) OFF
Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) OFF

      OUTGOING MAIL

      Server: securemail.risebrodband.net   PORT 995
      Encryption method “SSL/TLS”
Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) OFF
My outgoing (SMTP) server requires authentication ) OFF

I keep getting “Something went wrong and Outlook couldn’t save your account settings.”

Mod edit: Removal of sensitive info (true or not)

This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL/TLS) OFF Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) OFF

I believe you have to turn ON SSL here, and it probably needs Password Authentication also.

Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) OFF
My outgoing (SMTP) server requires authentication ) OFF

Same here. I believe you will have to turn these ON.

      Changing to the following
This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL/TLS) ON
Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) ON

NO JOY!  Same nasty reply from Outlook.
“Something went wrong and Outlook couldn’t save your account settings.”

ANY NEED TO CHANGE OUTGOING?  Or is it too soon to asks since I haven’t got incoming fixed yet.

If you need further help, click on the link at the top of my first post.
There is a phone number there for further help in configuring.

Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) is usually not required

Regarding the reply from PKCano above, “If you need further help, click on the link at the top of my first post.  There is a phone number there for further help in configuring.”

Been there, done that.  Gentleman I talked to said I can only tell you what’s on our website.  We can help people configure their email servers.  That, my friend, is what brought me there.
