    Hey gang–

I have run across an odd behavior in Word’s outlining feature. I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong, or what. I have set up outlining to use the 1.1.1 format, and tied the outline levels to the predefined List Numbered styles. When I got to a point in my document where I first used the 3rd outline level, which should have been 1.3.1, it instead came out as 3.1.1. See attached document for screen shots.

I have tried to reconfigure the outline level, but cannot do anything with it. Any ideas??

When you define your numbering, you MUST start with your cursor in a level one paragraph & you MUST define all your levels WITHOUT closing the dialog box. Go back to level one, Bullets & Numbering…, & choose the Outiine number tab (list allery). Then choose the legal numbering list template & Customize. Define & link each level starting with one in the dialog box. DON”T close the box. Define all your levels.

This problem arises because your numbering is using different list templates (numbering schemes). Post back if you have any problems.
