    Hello,
I am interested in getting the user name from the OS registry. I believe this can be done with VBA.
    Thanks

        Hello,
Thank you!!! I was trying to make it harder than it needed to be. Environ(26) gives the USERNAME. I did my search of this site with registy instead of username.
        Thanks again,

Just an observation to anyone proposing to use environment variables to get the username – I hope you’re not planning to use it for any sort of security; what’s to prevent someone from changing the environment variable? If you’re using Windows NT or Windows 2000, using the code that has been posted several times will be a lot more secure.

        Hello,
After reading Mr. Martin’s comments, I remembered the client is using Win 95! I tried the environ command and it did not work, however on 2/12/1 you had a post with a solution (RE:Log Users). As we are not using the name as security but as a tracking devise this method (checked with Win 95 and Win 2KP) should fill the bill. I should have explained the clients system and they wanted Access 97.
Thank you all for your answers. smile
